Console, The National Suicide Charity

on .

At the end of this working week, I would like to show my sympathy and support here to counsellors and psychotherapists working with or in Console while the organisation is making the news in such a saddening way.  I know I have felt the after-effects personally and professionally all this week, and I can only imagine the effect the bad news had on people doing valuable work in suicide prevention and bereavement under the Console name, and on their clients.

The financial scandal currently surrounding Console affects people who have fundraised, donated, and worked with the organisation as therapist or as client.  Just particularly this week I have been thinking of the counsellors and psychotherapists working under that organisational name.  I know that suicide prevention, and bereavement support, can be slow and delicate work that involves building up trust with the client.  It is my hope that people who have been getting support through Console have not had their therapy badly affected by what is on the news about the organisation.  I hope that therapists who have been supporting people through Console have been able to find support themselves after hearing about the apparent betrayal of trust at the top.

Best wishes, Anne
